REPAIR OPTIONS

Instant HousecallCONTACTLESS REMOTE REPAIR - We use a software tool called Instant Housecall to remotely access your computer. With it we can run numerous diagnostic programs and fix a great many issues affecting your PC. When working remotely, it's much like physically sitting in front of the computer. For the initial visit I walk my customers through the simple procedure that installs the small-footprint client software on your machine, and then you trigger the remote session. You're in control of this. I can't initiate a remote connection on my own, it has to come from you.*

For this to work your computer has to work somewhat, enough to be able to access the internet via a browser. It also works better with faster bandwidth, though I have successfully used it on slow DSL connections.

While working, I invite my customers to watch what I'm doing if they like, but typically I'll disconnect the phone call so I can concentrate on the work at hand and call the customer back at the end of the session.

To work on items such as your router or your WIFI, I'd log into any computer on your network, and from there I would be able to access the setup and configuration of your network equipment.


* Actually InstantHouseCall has a mode called "Unattended Remote Access". When the customer checks this option, I can "see" if their computer is online and can initiate a remote connection. Some of my customers prefer this so they don't have to be home while I work or don't have to attend to the computer. the customer always has to enable this option from their home, I cannot do so from my end.


Drop offPHYSICAL REPAIR PROCEDURES - Not everything can be repaired remotely thought. Maybe you cracked your laptop screen. Maybe your desktop computer simply won't turn on. For these items I offer a couple of options: 1. You can drop off your equipment. I will meet you outside and collect it, then sterilize it (Clorox wipes and/or alcohol). I work on this equipment with gloves and before returning it to you I sterilize it one more time. 2. If the repair is not time-critical, you can ship the item to me and I'll ship it back when done. I've successfully shipped items such as laptops back and forth to customers before.

I always return items with complete instructions necessary and a listing of exactly what I did.
